Artist's Statement:
After working full-time for 18 years and raising a family, I decided the time had come to do what I always wanted to do...paint. I soon discovered it was not that easy to just pick up my brush again after all that time, and so for the past ten years I have been continuing my education by going back to art school and taking workshops from artists I admire. I paint in oils and pastels, and I feel there is a lifetime of possibilities to be explored in both these exciting media.  I paint all subject matter, but portraits are my favorite.  I also enjoy the challenges of plein air painting.  I have recently returned home to Gig Harbor after 3.5 years living aboard our sailing yacht "Moonstruck" and sailing from Florida to Turkey and back.

Having cleared out the cobwebs and swept out the dust, I am now comfortably ensconced back in my Gig Harbor, WA studio and back in business.  I will be focusing my attention on landscapes inspired by my extensive travels in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.  I am also accepting commissions for pet portraits.  My newest painting of Zoey is an example.  The paintings will be a whimsical reflection of the animal's personality, with a lavish use of bold, unexpected color.

My goal is to reinvent myself as an artist by pushing to evolve and by translating what I see to what I feel.  My challenge is to open the canvas so that the viewer will recognize that emotion when looking at my work.

"...and my aim in life is to make pictures and drawings, as many and as well as I can; then, at the end of my life, I hope to pass away, looking back with love and tender regret, and thinking, 'Oh, the pictures I have made..."
Vincent van Gogh
