ART ROCKS
The Pacific Coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State is known for its temperate rainforest and the short, crazy-steep rivers of snowmelt that cascade down from the Olympic Mountains to the sea, bringing with them thousands of felled trees and billions of rocks.  Most of the trees wind up bleached and stranded on the pristine remote beaches where on a recent visit we saw no litter on the beach, just a whale carcass slowly rotting away.

Some of the beaches are sand, but a number retain some of the billions of rocks that made the journey down the mountain.  They are fractured and tumbled into smooth eye-pleasing shapes.  One rock looked to me just like a xyz salmon, another like a whale.  Lauren and I decided to interpret the rocks with the results below.  These are not so much works of art as eclectic fun decor items.  Each piece is named and signed by the artist.  A number of coats of laquer is then applied to give them a Fresh Wet Fish look.  Prices range from $40 - $150.

CHRISTMAS ART CARDS
I used to show my work in Kimball Espresso Gallery in Gig Harbor, WA with about 6 other local artists.  Every year at Christmas we did a holiday show.  One theme was to do 2 holiday themed paintings, in the style of our favorite artist.  My favorite artist of all time is Vincent van Gogh,  It was so much fun and all the paintings were just fabulous!  Below are Van Gogh's original works on the left and my interpretation on the right.

SALMONCHANTED HARBOR

This was a city sponsored project to individually interpret a single salmon mold.  A number of artists came up with a wonderful variety of interpretations, which were ultimately auctioned, raising over $70,000 for art and environmental programs for the city's public schools..
