MOONSTRUCK

Our Hylas 49 is for sale. Moonstruck is hull #53 and was built to order for her present owners in Queen Long Shipyard in 2006, she was delivered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in August 2006.

REASON FOR SALE
We commissioned Moonstruck for a 3-4 year adventure cruising the U.S. East Coast, Caribbean, crossing the Atlantic Ocean and an extended period in the Mediterranean.  Our adventure has drawn to a close and, as we had always planned, it is now time to to sell her.

OUTFITTING
We are not 'hard-core' sailors.  We like to be comfortable.  We also like to be safe.  Our version of 'safe' means being able to handle the boat single-handed if necessary and for all sail handling (including reefing) to be able to be accomplished from the safety of the cockpit - whatever the weather.  Comfort means a heavy displacement boat with a full keel that does not 'slam' in heavy seas like many modern barrel-bottom fin-keel boats.  It means top quality materials including teak, bamboo, ultraleather and numerous accessories from a central vacuum unit to airconditioning (3 units), a generator and a watermaker.  For all that, there is also safety in speed and Moonstruck is no slouch.  She points well for a cruising boat and her Sparkman & Stephen's racing pedigree shows through with top results in ocean races such as Marion To Bermuda (Hylas 49' "Makai" 1st place 2006) .

Moonstruck has tankage for 260 gallons of diesel (1,000 litres) giving her a cruising range under engine alone of 1,200 Nautical Miles at 7 knots.

IN A SENTENCE
Moonstruck is equipped to sail the world in comfort and safety with a degree of style.

LOCATION
Moonstruck recently completed a Mediterranean circuit.  Moonstruck is located out of the water in a special storage pit (for windstorm) in Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour in the British Virgin Islands.  She will be there until early December 2010.  Many US airlines offer direct flights to Tortola, the airport code is EIS.  Virgin Gorda is a short easy ferry ride from the airport at Tortola.  Please email using the link below for more details on viewing Moonstruck.
